28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? Matthew 6:28-30
In times of uncertainty it is easy to lose faith and worry that our needs will not be met. Walking through the grocery store the other day feelings of fear and panic struck me as I walked down each isle to see there was hardly any food to be found and that toilet paper, Lysol wipes, and water had been sold out for weeks. What are we to do in times like this?
It was crucial for me to realize that my needs and the needs of my family can not be met by me alone. In fact if it was all up to me, we would probably be in big trouble. It can be overwhelming and bring about great anxiety thinking that it's all on our backs. Jesus reminds us that it isn't. Do birds worry what they will eat? Do flowers worry if they will be clothed? No way, God has them well taken care of and YOU are so much more valued by God than birds and flowers. So, worry not. Jesus has you well taken care of. You have a God that loves you and a local church that is here for you.
31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6: 31-34
Let's seek Jesus, His Kingdom, and His righteousness together in these hard times and let tomorrow worry about itself.
